Yes, you read that right. I’m going bananas in my sewing room. Literally.
The other day I made a big mistake. It doesn’t have to do with sewing, but I’ll get to that.
As I’ve been under the weather, I’ve been getting groceries delivered to my doorstep.
Oh, how I do miss going to the grocery store, and I’m almost recovered enough to do that.
Anyway, I decided to order my usual groceries, and this includes bananas. For quantity, I entered 20.
I thought I entered 20 pieces.
And I didn’t pay attention to the price because I needed $100 minimum for free delivery. So I just looked at the total and was happy I made the minimum.
Two hours later, I got the notification that my delivery was outside my door. When I opened the door, I thought, there sure are a lot of bags.
As I started opening the bags, they were full of bananas. Then I realized what I had done.
I had ordered 20 bunches of bananas.
Each bunch had 5 to 6 pieces. If you do the math, that’s over 100 bananas!
What was I thinking?
Okay, I had to give myself grace because I wasn’t thinking. I was recovering from illness and just wanted my groceries.

Anyway, I put them all on my kitchen counter. It’s small, so there wasn’t much room.
So I put some on my cutting table. And I thought about how I made such a funny mistake.
I could only laugh to myself.
Maybe you’ve done something this silly and can relate.
And it made me think of another time when I accidentally ordered too much of the wrong thing.
This had to do with sewing. Recently I had ordered blue thread from Wawak.
And I thought I had ordered one spool of thread. But I kept pressing the plus sign because it wouldn’t add to my shopping cart.
Well, I thought the site was going down or some glitch, so I just skipped it.
I went to check out my order and didn’t pay attention to the quantities of each item I had ordered. The total amount seemed reasonable.
A couple of days later, when I opened my package from Wawak, I was surprised to find 6 spools of that blue thread!
And when I looked at my receipt, yes, I had ordered that many.
Good grief! Again, how did that happen?
I didn’t need that many spools of the same color thread. But the good thing was that I was able to return the extra thread.
In the case of the bananas, I couldn’t return all those extra bunches.
What did I do with them, you might wonder? There’s no way I could eat them all before going bad.
Well, I let them ripen and then froze them. I was actually surprised they fit in my freezer, as it’s pretty small.
So nothing went to waste, and I’ll be eating bananas for the next few weeks!
When life gives you bananas, make banana bread. Right?
